ZTA Proud to Host ITGA Africa Regional Meeting in Harare

The Zimbabwe Tobacco Association was honoured to host the International Tobacco Growers’ Association (ITGA) Africa Regional Meeting in Harare at the end of June, welcoming growers’ representatives and industry leaders from across the continent including Malawi, Zambia and Tanzania, as well as a delegation from India.

The meeting provided an invaluable opportunity to discuss the issues shaping the future of tobacco production in Africa, including global market trends, sustainability, evolving regulatory frameworks, crop production, and strategies to strengthen the competitiveness of African growers.

As Africa’s leading tobacco-producing nation, Zimbabwe is committed to fostering collaboration, sharing knowledge and promoting the interests of tobacco growers both regionally and internationally. The discussions held during the meeting reinforced the importance of a united African voice in addressing common challenges and advancing sustainable growth across the sector.

The closed session saw the formation of a new ITGA AfroAsia Region, bringing producing members closer.
